Bergen Museum to Host Exhibit Celebrating Women’s History Month and New Jersey Women Artists

March 6th through April 28
The Bergen Museum Of Art & Science will exhibit selected works of women artists in recognition of Women’s History Month. The exhibit will be available to the public from March 6 through April 28. An Opening Reception for this exhibit will be held on March 6 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the Main Gallery. A special music program featuring Ridgewood artist and pianist Edna Dagan is planned during the reception. Suggested donation for reception is $10 which may be applied to a Membership fee.
Winner of dozens of competitions and scholarships, Dagan has performed widely in Israel and the United States, in concert as well as broadcast. Dagan began her career as a pianist at the age of two. She received a master’s degree as a soloist from the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University. She then received a scholarship to study with Madame Kaboush at Julliard. Her interest in artistic expression spills over into different mediums including painting, drawing and sculpting. She frequently integrates her music and art.

Natalia Kolodzei the Bergen Museum’s curator said this about the exhibit “the Bergen Museum is pleased to host an exhibit of works by women artists that live in New Jersey. This exhibit is part of our commitment to provide opportunities for local and regional artists to have their creative talents and skills be seen and recognized.” Kolodzei continued “the Bergen Museum will continue to create opportunities for artists throughout New Jersey to exhibit their works. For example, the Museum will host the 3rd Annual “Bergen Music & Art Festival” © later this year and will seek artists from all areas of New Jersey to show and sell their original art and to perform.”
Peter Knipe, President of the Bergen Museum, said “the Bergen Museum is happy to produce and host an exhibit of the works of such talented women artists. Before the exhibit has even opened we are receiving calls from schools, Girl Scout troops and women’s organizations asking to arrange group visits to this exhibition.” Knipe went on to say “We are committed to creating and maintaining a “World Class” venue for the fine arts, performing arts and science education right here in New Jersey. We are creating a venue with exhibits and programs that residents from all of New Jersey and yes even New York City come to.”
